Sleep

March 20, 2013

Mary JoI am sleeping now about seven hours.  When  all this started in December almost through February I only slept 2-3 hours at a time.  It was awful.  I felt like the walking dead. Prednisone affects sleep. RA affects sleep with substances released in the body when inflamed. Pain affects sleep. The problem is that lack of sleep makes the symptoms of RA worse.

My primary prescribed Trazo-done.  It was originally developed as an antidepressant. However, it caused sleepiness and sleep.  So somewhere along the line,  it started being prescribed for sleep. My Rheumatologist likes it too.  It is generic. Cheap. Tried and true.

It didn’t always work.  I finally read somewhere that it has a short window. That means you need to be ready for bed when you take it if you want it to work.

I also leave worries outside my bedroom door. Yes, this is possible. Best if you want sleep.

I also only read plodding books. Don’t watch TV before bed. All works nicely. I do sleep!

I need to report that I am pain free at the moment. I have to thank Methotrexate for that. Finally!!!
